In search of lost sounds
We would like to take this opportunity to inform you of the publication of the catalogue In search of lost sounds by John Henry van der Meer. The text is both in Italian and English. Please find enclosed a summery in which can be found a list of the articles covered: history of the pianoforte, the harp, the harpsichord and many other plucked instruments. There are 60 schedules of the Fernada Giulini collection of musical instruments. Each schedule is preceded by the introductions which are marvellous tales on instrument history, referring from the origins to now today. The catalogue is completed by essays on both art and musicology. It was indispensable to accompany the catalogue with the CD, because the right protagonist of this volume is the music, that is connected with art on the instruments decoration. Along the pages of the book and listening to the registered music on the instruments, from the antiquity to our days, with the hope to feel the pleasure of a nearly found sound.
